Integrating technology and teaching
There is a great deal of focus on how to integrate technology into regular classroom practice. My own situation combines both the separate ICT lessons with technology coach responsibilities. Notice that I did not call my ICT lessons isolated I don't think they are as I plan closely with class teachers and my work uses the knowledge and concepts they learn in class.
My present course focuses a lot the integration of technology, and it does this with a curriculum focus. A good example is using the ASSURE model to plan a lesson or unit that incorporates technology, but is not over-whelmed by, or obsessed with, it. Here is one I created that would fit into our grade 5 Exhibition very well. The process I took to arrive at the goal identified in the lesson plan involved using a tool called the Technology Integration Matrix (TIM). It is useful in determining the quality and quantity of technology use, providing a way to pick a goal that advances technology usage and integration. Click on the ASSURE lesson plan to see what I would like to do to enhance technology integration. Click on the TIM analysis for the paper describing the analysis that helped me decide where to focus.

In the new calendar year, my school will be starting a new initiative with iPads. We explored this in my course. In this case, my partner and I both investigated uses of the iPad independently and then brought them together in our presentation. This provided a nice compare and contrast offering to our classmates. Click on Using iPads in Education for a PowerPoint presentation (with narration) on both uses of the iPad we explored or on Emerging Technologies - iPad for the paper looking at my use, which was focussed on younger students. Note that the challenges I had with ScreenChomp seem now to be resolved with a recent update to version 1.4.
